Feature

Reroute calls automatically when extensions go offline

Watch a list of extensions; when they disappear, traffic flips to a backup branch — no manual intervention, no missed calls.

The Outage Failover node watches a configurable list of extensions and routes calls down one of two branches based on whether those extensions are currently online (registered). When they go down, traffic flips automatically.

What this lets you do

  • Internet outage at the office — desk phones stop registering. Calls flip to a cell phone or external answering service.
  • Power outage at the call center — flip to a backup site or after-hours voicemail.
  • "Must answer" lines — if the on-call rep's phone deregisters, route to the next person.

Setup

  1. Drop an Outage Failover node into a flow.
  2. Pick the extensions to monitor.
  3. Set the check logicall offline (any one online keeps the route healthy) or any offline (any one offline triggers failover).
  4. Set a grace period (don't trigger immediately on a one-second blip) and recovery period (don't flip back instantly when the phone re-registers).
  5. Wire Healthy and Degraded outputs.

Worth knowing

Status is tracked by a background monitor (independent of the dialplan), so failover decisions are made before the call hits the node — no on-call latency. The current state shows live on the call flow canvas, and admins can opt in to email alerts when the state changes. Need an immediate check? Click refresh on the canvas and the monitor re-polls on the spot.
